Dr. K. Natarajan Memorial – Outstanding Samvedhaka Award has been established in 2023 by the IEEE Bangalore Section Sensors Council Chapter to recognize the best doctoral dissertation(s) in the fields of sensors theory, design, fabrication, manufacturing, and applications from degree-awarding institutions based in India. This award has been instituted in memory of Late Dr. K. Natarajan, past chair of IEEE Bangalore Section Sensors Council Chapter and an eminent researcher in this domain. This award aims to appreciate and recognize the cutting-edge research carried out in this domain.

About Dr. K. Natarajan

He spent 34 years working at BEL, Bangalore before retiring as the Additional General Manager. During his time at BEL, he founded a MEMS development centre, the first of its type in India. His work at BEL involved creation of defence-grade MEMS pressure sensors, gas sensors, and various RF MEMS components. He was an excellent researcher in the field of sensors and its applications, and his work was the subject of numerous reputable articles and patents. Many people who were connected to him were inspired by his love for study and innovation. As an academician at MSRIT and Jain Engineering College after leaving BEL. He continued to impart his skills to students. He played a key role in reactivation of the IEEE Bangalore Section Sensors Council in the year 2015, serving as its chair for two years, and remained involved with the council as a mentor and ExCom member. The chapter has benefited greatly from his services. He passed away on 6th June 2023. The Dr. K.
